Bachelor's of Science: Double Major in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design.

Who/What inspired you to go into education?

Volunteering in my children's kindergarten class. When my son was in kindergarten, he had an amazing teacher. She made me feel welcome and allowed me to volunteer anytime I wanted. I loved being in the classroom so much that I spent most days there. When she went on vacation, I would take over. I learned so much and realized that teaching made me happy.

What do you do when you aren't in school?

When I am not in school I spend time with my family. I love animals and being outside. We like to take our dog, Oakley for walks. I enjoy reading and cooking.

Favorite quote or your philosophy on education?

"The secret in Education Lies in Respecting the Student." ~

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Every child needs to be in a classroom where they are loved and treated with respect. They deserve a teacher who believes in them and encourages them to do their best.

What is your favorite Leader In Me habit and why?

My favorite Leader in Me habit is "Begin with the end in Mind." When you have a goal or dream identified, it motivates you to work towards it. This is an exciting, rewarding concept for students as well as adults to learn and practice.
