This year, Roosevelt Elementary participated in the Weber School District Storytelling Festival. Students either recited an original story or a classic fairytale for 3 minutes. Our top two students were invited to the District Final at Roy High School on Feb. 2, 2026, where they performed along with 45 other students from across the district. While we didn't make it to the Weber State storytelling festival, we are so proud of our students and how amazing their stories were!

Ms. Casperson’s class learned about Martin Luther King Jr. this week. Each student wrote about how they can make the world a better place. The kids had a busy week, going to the Ogden Nature Center and finishing their Math Acadience testing. They are working hard on adding and subtracting to 20 using multiple strategies. First grade is off to a great start in 2026!

🌿✨ First Grade in the Wild! ✨🌿
Our amazing first graders traded their classroom for the great outdoors and explored the wonders of nature at the Ogden Nature Center! 🐞🍃 From discovering animal autographs to learning about how animals move, every moment was filled with curiosity, laughter, and hands-on learning.

This field trip wasn’t just fun—it was a chance for our young learners to build skills, ask big questions, and connect with the world around them. We’re so proud of their adventurous spirit! 💚

January has been a busy month in Ms. W’s third-grade class. We accomplished 1100 points on our hundreds board! We chose to have a Pajama Party to celebrate. We took pictures for you! We each brought a toy, a snack, and a blanket. We played with our toys and our classmates while eating snacks from home.
In our class, we have been working on completing our MOY testing. Thirteen classmates earned the library incentive award! During this month, we have been learning about the three basic sentences: simple, compound, and complex sentences. We wrote letters using these to our pen pals in Mrs Summers class! In math, we are working on passing off our multiplication and division facts. We have also started learning fractions! As we conclude this unit, we plan to host a pizza party to showcase and celebrate what we have learned!

Mrs. Ryan’s 4th graders came back after the new year ready to work. We wrote goals, worked hard on reading and math, enjoyed a lesson with Mrs. Donohoo, and had fun being outside in the snow.

December was a great month in Mrs. VP’s class. Students worked hard to earn points towards decorating gingerbread houses. Each table group earned points, and together they were able to earn over 2,200 points in just under two weeks. Students also earned their 1,000-point brag tags for being noticed for having excellent behavior outside of class. During the month of December, we got to learn about the four spheres in science and how each sphere interacts with the other spheres. In math, we learned a fun rap about the order of operations - complete with hand motions! We continue to work on becoming excellent readers - with several students earning prizes for completing a winter break BINGO card. We look forward to continuing to learn new things and to continuing to grow into amazing, kind, humans!

In Kindergarten, we earned a “Grinch Day” through our new school incentive program. As a class, the kids earned 100 tickets to earn this great incentive.

We also had a visitor come to Kindergarten on our last day of school before the break….Santa!!🎅

The kids were so excited and we were very grateful he took time out of his busy schedule to come visit the students at Roosevelt!

🌱 First Grade Scientists at Work! 🌱

Our first graders had an amazing hands-on learning experience this week as they partnered with Red Butte Garden for a special seed/fruit experiment! Students observed different types of seeds, made predictions, learned what plants need to grow, and experimented with how different seeds/fruits travel.

From curious questions to excited discoveries, our young scientists showed wonderful enthusiasm. We’re so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see what sprouts next! 🌿✨

Thank you to Red Butte Garden for bringing this engaging learning opportunity to our students!

🇺🇸💙 Veterans Day at Roosevelt 💙🇺🇸
Today, our halls were filled with kindness, gratitude, and a whole lot of creativity! Our students spent the week making heartfelt cards to honor the brave veterans in our community — and we couldn’t be more proud of their compassion and effort. 💌✨

Watching our students thoughtfully choose their words, colors, and drawings reminded us how important it is to teach gratitude and service from a young age. Their messages were sincere, sweet, and sometimes beautifully silly — exactly what you’d expect from our amazing kids. ❤️

To all veterans: thank you for your courage, your service, and the sacrifices you’ve made. Our students hope these cards bring a smile to your day. 🙏🇺🇸
