Fourth grade spent the 3rd quarter researching someone they believe to be a leader. They wrote reports, made posters, and presented a wax museum to their friends and family. It was a wonderful afternoon, and all of our students worked so hard at becoming the person they chose to research.

Ms. Casperson’s first-grade class kicked March off by celebrating Read Across America Week. They read a fun picture book and did a coordinating activity each day. Now they are reading about fearless women to celebrate Women’s History Month. The Bear River Bird Refuge came and presented to the whole first grade. They learned about unique bird characteristics. They are working on their math fluency. They can build numbers with base ten blocks with confidence!

We have had a student teacher in our 2nd-grade class for the last few months. Her name is Mrs. Roper. She has been doing lots of fun things with us to help us learn. Here are some of the things we do during her lessons.
In science, we have been learning about erosion. Here we are filling out our science papers with ideas about what we think caused erosion in the pictures we were looking at.
In phonics, we have learned about different sounds in words. In these pictures, you can see how awesome we are at marking words to show what sounds they make.
In reading, we have been learning our vocabulary words. Mrs. Roper helps us remember the meaning of these words by coming up with actions. Here are some of the actions we did with our new vocabulary words this week.

🦷✨ SMILES ARE SHINING BRIGHT IN 1ST GRADE! ✨🦷

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, and our 1st graders are flashing their biggest, brightest smiles! 😁💙

We were so lucky to have our amazing school nurse, Ms. Mines, visit our classroom to teach us all about keeping our teeth healthy and strong! 🪥🦷

Here’s what our little smile superstars learned:
✨ Brush twice a day for two whole minutes
✨ Don’t forget to floss
✨ Choose healthy snacks that help our teeth
✨ Visit the dentist regularly
✨ Sugar bugs are NOT our friends!

The excitement was contagious as students practiced proper brushing techniques and asked fantastic questions about how to keep their smiles sparkling. 🌟

Healthy habits start young, and we are so proud of our 1st graders for taking responsibility for their teeth. Because confident smiles = confident learners! 💙

Keep brushing, keep smiling, and keep shining! ✨🪥

The first graders in Mrs. Worton's class were working those brains before the Valentine's Day fun began! ♥️

This week, our amazing first-grade class dove into measurement- comparing lengths, and talking like little mathematicians. They are also learning to add and subtract teen numbers quickly in their head. We are so proud of how hard they work and encourage one another along the way. This is a kind, generous, joyful group of learners who cheer each other on.

After putting in their best effort, they enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day together- sharing smiles, friendship, and lots of sweet moments.

Way to go, first grade! We love learning with you!

This year, Roosevelt Elementary participated in the Weber School District Storytelling Festival. Students either recited an original story or a classic fairytale for 3 minutes. Our top two students were invited to the District Final at Roy High School on Feb. 2, 2026, where they performed along with 45 other students from across the district. While we didn't make it to the Weber State storytelling festival, we are so proud of our students and how amazing their stories were!

Ms. Casperson’s class learned about Martin Luther King Jr. this week. Each student wrote about how they can make the world a better place. The kids had a busy week, going to the Ogden Nature Center and finishing their Math Acadience testing. They are working hard on adding and subtracting to 20 using multiple strategies. First grade is off to a great start in 2026!

🌿✨ First Grade in the Wild! ✨🌿
Our amazing first graders traded their classroom for the great outdoors and explored the wonders of nature at the Ogden Nature Center! 🐞🍃 From discovering animal autographs to learning about how animals move, every moment was filled with curiosity, laughter, and hands-on learning.

This field trip wasn’t just fun—it was a chance for our young learners to build skills, ask big questions, and connect with the world around them. We’re so proud of their adventurous spirit! 💚

January has been a busy month in Ms. W’s third-grade class. We accomplished 1100 points on our hundreds board! We chose to have a Pajama Party to celebrate. We took pictures for you! We each brought a toy, a snack, and a blanket. We played with our toys and our classmates while eating snacks from home.
In our class, we have been working on completing our MOY testing. Thirteen classmates earned the library incentive award! During this month, we have been learning about the three basic sentences: simple, compound, and complex sentences. We wrote letters using these to our pen pals in Mrs Summers class! In math, we are working on passing off our multiplication and division facts. We have also started learning fractions! As we conclude this unit, we plan to host a pizza party to showcase and celebrate what we have learned!

December was a great month in Mrs. VP’s class. Students worked hard to earn points towards decorating gingerbread houses. Each table group earned points, and together they were able to earn over 2,200 points in just under two weeks. Students also earned their 1,000-point brag tags for being noticed for having excellent behavior outside of class. During the month of December, we got to learn about the four spheres in science and how each sphere interacts with the other spheres. In math, we learned a fun rap about the order of operations - complete with hand motions! We continue to work on becoming excellent readers - with several students earning prizes for completing a winter break BINGO card. We look forward to continuing to learn new things and to continuing to grow into amazing, kind, humans!

In Kindergarten, we earned a “Grinch Day” through our new school incentive program. As a class, the kids earned 100 tickets to earn this great incentive.

We also had a visitor come to Kindergarten on our last day of school before the break….Santa!!🎅
