Who/What inspired you to go into education?

My mother was always very active in helping others. As a child, I tagged along to hundreds of PTA activities and humanitarian projects. I went to a Title 1 school where there were always opportunities to be involved. Some of my friends had difficult lives but they were amazing people! I wondered how do we become our best selves? How do we help others do the same? How do we carry forward when life is difficult? My college professor advised that if I went into a career that was something I loved, I would always be fulfilled. And, I was always fascinated in growth and development including academic, social, and emotional. I love brains and neurology! And, I love helping people find happiness. So through my journey, I ended up in a career that I absolutely love!

What do you do when you aren't in school?

I try to keep up with my 5 kids and husband. I also love growing plants.

 The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Something Interesting about you:

I was born 2 months premature. I weighed 3 pounds and wasn't expected to live. A nurse had to stay with me continually because I would get tired and stop breathing. My dad always said I looked like a tiny featherless bird. I could easily fit in the palm of one hand.

Your favorite things:

Chocolate of any kind. Plants of any kind.

What is your favorite Leader In Me habit and why?

Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood. If we truly understand others, there isn't a problem that can't be solved.
