It was such a pleasure to see so many parents at our Halloween parade Tuesday. Thanks to all of you who helped with the class parties. I love that we can enjoy moments of childhood in such an inviting atmosphere. We love our Roosevelt parents. Thank you for entrusting us to educate your children. I cannot express to you enough how much we appreciate the time you give to our school community. Thanks to all of our parents for coming to Parent Teachers Conferences. This is a great time to celebrate your student’s achievements and set goals for the coming term. We appreciate those who stopped by the book fair and encourage your children to love reading. We want our children reading every day.
We appreciate partnering with our PTA in providing some of these great activities for our students. Our Red Ribbon week was amazing and ended with a fun magic assembly with Brad Barton teaching our children what is real verses what is magic. We are looking forward to our Reflections awards for those students who participated in this. When the school and parents work together, great things happen.
Parents our text message system you signed up for during PTC did not work. We have sent home a bright pink paper asking you to please join once again. We have had 65 parents sign up so far to receive school text messages. It is working this time. Here are the directions to join the parents’ text messaging / email system.

We would like to celebrate our students’ educational progress at Roosevelt Elementary. Our teachers work so hard to give enriched lessons, teaching the whole child. If you are interested in seeing our schools progress, you can log on to www.schools.utah.gov and then click on the Data Gateway link. We appreciate our community council in taking time to look at our school data and set goals using the Trustlands money to continue to improve academically. Attendance is an important part of our student’s educational process. When students are at school each day on time, they are ready and able to learn. We need your support with this. Our first bell rings at 8:30 AM. So far this year our whole school has had 95% or higher attendance in each classroom. Third grade had the highest attendance in August and September and Kindergarten had the highest attendance for the month of October.
I always love this time of year when the leaves are changing and the holidays are upon us. This is a great time to reflect on all that we are thankful for. Thanks to all of you who have donated items for our food drive. This will continue to run through the 15th of November. Enjoy your family, friends, and loved ones this holiday. Please be aware that there will be no school on Wednesday, November 22nd through Friday, November 24th. Enjoy the holiday break with your families. We have so much to be thankful for!
Sincerely, Kitty Barney
